Sunday Suppers

Representatives from our five local Presbyterian churches have been collaborating for a number of months to address an identified need for a community meal to be offered on Sunday evenings.  We are excited to announce that our planning has moved forward and “Sunday Supper” is the name we have decided to give this new mission opportunity.  This will be a great way to become acquainted with other Presbyterians in our area and to share our faith by example with community members.

In January 2016 we launched our Sunday Supper ministry, a free community meal that will be served each Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at First Presbyterian Church.  This is an exciting and unique collaboration of five Presbyterian churches in the Cedar Valley:  Cedar Heights, First in Cedar Falls, First in Waterloo, Unity and Westminster.

The five churches will have volunteers helping every Sunday evening.  The three shifts are as follows;

3:30-5:30 prep/serve:  help prepare the meal and serve during the first part of the meal
4:30-6:30 hospitality:  welcome our guests into the building, give directions, visit with our guests, clean up messes during the meal, and deal with any potential building issues
5:30-7:30 serve/cleanup:  serve during the second half of the meal and clean up dishes, tables, etc.

We have something for every age, and you can help us out one Sunday or several Sundays–it’s entirely up to you.  Please contact Kari O. Narey if you are available to help for 2 hours on a Sunday evening.
